VALLEY FORD, Sonoma County — Caltrans scheduled a one-way traffic-control operation north of Valley Ford on State Route 1 between October 13 and October 20, 2026.
The agency said crews were replacing a damaged drainage pipe and stabilizing the roadside embankment, work intended to protect the highway from future erosion and roadbed failures. Its October 12 bulletin called for flaggers to direct traffic during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.
Those dates are now past. The announcement documents work that was scheduled but is not evidence of an ongoing closure on November 1 or proof that final inspection has occurred. Rain and field conditions can alter construction schedules.
Practical information
Valley Ford residents and visitors should check current Caltrans road information before using the narrow coastal route. Motorists should slow for signs and crews if any follow-up work is posted.
